On December 5, Emotia captured the wedding of Megan McGinty, a finance whiz, and Megan Macri, 3rd baseman for the Minnesota Twins.

Megan’s prep location was the Embassy Suites on Columbus and as usual, the day started early with Lillian (Emotia’s resident makeup artist) and team arriving to do makeup and hair for the bride and party. Megan opted for the day-rate beauty package so Lillian was on hand all day to provide touch-ups as needed.

While Megan was getting ready, a surprise gift showed up … Nice work, Matt, nice work.

Here’s a unique gift idea – one of the attendants cut out pictures of Megan’s face and pasted them onto wedding dresses from bridal magazines to create a card featuring a parade of Megans!

One last beauty shot before we headed out …

Most of our clients go with packages that provide 2 photographers in order to get a variety of angles and shots. In the photo below, the girls are looking at the main photog, while the 2nd shooter got this shot. Often times the side angle shot is more interesting than the typical ‘looking into the camera’ shot.

Another advantage of having 2 photographers is that you can do 2 shoots at the same time. For instance, while the bride was doing some portraits, the 2nd shooter had some fun with the girls. These types of shots can make great thank you gifts for your bridal party!

Megan’s wedding was held at Holy Name Cathedral, the quintessential downtown Chicago ceremony site.

After the ceremony, Megan wanted to take some pictures at the old water tower on Michigan Ave. It was fr-rrr-rrr-eezing, but it was fun.

Wow, Megan must be a really good girl because she got a visit from Old St. Nick himself!

After that, it was on the reception at the classic Murphy Auditorium. This venue has some amazing architecture that makes it a great place to shoot.

A tender moment in the stairwell …

We love this shot

We don’t exactly know why, but we love taking picutres of people taking pictures. This photographer looks pretty pleased with what she got!

Special thanks to Cathey Carey from Murphy Auditorium, and Marilyn from Honey Bee Weddings who were a great help in making the day go smoothly. Congrats to Megan & Matt! To see more photos, check out Megan & Matt’s ‘Warmth in Winter’ slideshow.
